Day 4-5: Singapore Arrival
Day 4 – Jun 23
I arrived in Singapore on the but had meeting right away with Gong Cha and the publishers so I didn’t have time to write yesterday.
It’s my first time to Singapore and upon arriving in Singapore, the first thing I realized is how much green they have in the city. I heard of Singapore being very clean and beautiful but I didn’t imagine so many trees everywhere. Growing up in Canada, I’m used to seeing a lot of natures and trees. However, I think Singapore has even more trees than Toronto. I don’t think I’ve seen a busy big city with so many giant trees everywhere. Probably what makes it quite different is that the trees are obviously planted manually and all so well taken care of.

Beautiful trees along the side of the roads.

I checked in at the Hotel and quickly got settled down before heading out for a meeting to receive a last round of breifing prior to the Meet & Greet event.
It’s been a while since I ate the cantonese style Congee and other dishes. Reminds me of the Chinese restaurants in Canada I always go with my parents.
On my first day of Singapore, decided to go to sleep earlier because I was quite tired checking out early in Johor and out all day.
Day 5 – June 24
Slept like a log and woke up at 1pm, I told my friends to go out without me since I haven’t had a chance to reply my email for a few days, and I wanted to just stay back to do some work and draw some sketches for the meet and greet meeting tomorrow.

Simple marker sketches for meet & greet events!
After getting some work done, I decided to head over to the famous Chatterbox restaurant at the Hotel, which is known for their signature Mandarin Chicken rice. (Supposely the most expensive chicken rice in Singapore). Decided to order a few other dish that they recommend, Lobster Laksa, Salted Egg Fish Skin, Char Kway Teow

All the food was as good as I expected, except the salted egg fish skin, even thought it was a tad oily, it exceeded my expectaction. The dishes tasted great, however, I couldn’t decide if it was worth 4 times the price I would’ve paid for it at a local restaurant. I was thankful that it didn’t taste bad at least and walked away happy.
Our friend Byran was kind enough to drop by to take us over to Clarke Quay for a casual drink while listening to live music. Went home not too late to get an early rest for the signing event tomorrow!
